salam.. yes yes, m done with surgery and m 3 weeks old in anaesthesiology. m liking it! =)

o yah, actually just dropping here to invite all of u to our Anaesthesia Day peringkat kebangsaan on this 9th October (Sunday) at padang taman tasik titiwangsa, near restoran nelayan and Kolej Tun Nasir PPUKM from 7am till 12noon.

FUN RUN!! heh.. 5km run with loads of prizes. unfortunately the closing date to join it was last week. we didn't expect ~600 ppl will join!! (yup, such a BIG number!) just imagine the crowd. fuhhh...

n owh.. we are also having a blood donation drive on the same day there. please kindly donate blood (n save life too!) if u r fit to do it. no harm. jangan takut, i've done it for more than 10 times already, Alhamdulillah.. n i am proud of it.

remember this, u don't need to be a doctor to save life!! =) =) =)

salam... whaha.. it's been quite some time yah. nway, this Quranic verse came across our course (ehem ehem) many times.. indeed, it is a beautiful verse. short but concise. let's check the some of the translations (from my limited knowledge in arabic)..

ok, "Allah menjadikan pasangan2 dari jenismu sendiri", bukan setakat bermaksud manusia dgn manusia je, itu sgt la superficial. tp maksudnya lebih mendalam di mana pasangan itu adalah sempurna (insyaAllah) dalam beberapa komponen seperti akalnya, emosi/nafsu, fizikal/jasmani, dan roh/spiritual. tanpa salah satu daripada komponen ni, capekla institusi rumahtangga (ops, terkeluar jugak word ni, hehe. so now u know which course i went to)

nway, sambung. "li taskunuu ilaiha"... askunuu=suke/tenang/tenteram dan sewaktu dgnnya. buat apa Allah menciptakan pasangan? supaya manusia ni suka kpdnya.. bukan dibuat trofi, bukan juge anak patung ye yg boleh disepak terajang. hm.. gerun jugak dgr ustaz/ustazah cerita pasal keganasan rumahtangga.. nauzubillah..

"waja 'ala"= dijadikan/dibuat.. "bainakum"= antara kamu iaitu dalam konteks ni, suami isteri la, both, not either one je k. maka, di sini kiranya suami isteri tu berkongsi hidup bersama2 la.

"mawaddah wa rahmah"= kasih sayang dan belas kasihan. kalau sape yg belajar arab tu, mesti tau "wa" tu bermaksud dan. maka dgn ini, kena la ada perasaan kasih sayang DAN belas kasihan.. kalau xde salah satu tu, xde la gunanya.. contoh kasih sayang (mawaddah) yg senang xyah ada modal kecuali air liur je, adalah dalam bentuk panggilan yg istimewa khas utk suami atau isteri tu je. contoh paling best ialah daripada Rasulullah kita sendiri di mana baginda memanggil Saidatina Aisyah dgn nama Humairah, yg bermaksud (literally) perempuan yg berpipi kemerah2an.. kan ke best tu. hehe.. tp jgn lak kalu si isteri tu agak gelap kulitnya, pegi panggil Aswad plak, or si hitam. nak kena la tu. as an alternative, panggil la si hitam manis, sejuk sket hati dgr ye tak. hehe.. bab belas kasihan tu rasanya xyah la nk kupas byk2, paham2 je la ye =)

hmm.. tu je la kot nak share. all in all, kursus ni best! sijil lak valid for life. maka, sesiapa yg belum pegi lagi tu, pegi la, x rugi pun. tp it takes 2 days of ur weekend la. itu kena sacrifice sikit. n that is why i went there during my lo-ng holiday. i m quite sure that when i start working, i have no more time. ok? no speculation please, haha... jangan bagi sy stress. shhh...

owh, before i leave, ni ada checklist adakah anda/saya mampu utk berumahtangga? adakah anda/saya mampu dari segi

- fizikal

- emosi

- ekonomi (ni bab paling susah kot for the time being)

well, call me a nerd but i still gonna tell this. it's back! earlier than expected some more!

WHAT is back? KLIBF 2010 is back. for those who do not know, it is an annual event, being 29th time this year, it wl b held at PWTC as usual from 19-28 March 2010. those who are still blur, KL International Book Fair it is. hehe.. macam gempak je kan.

nway, i've been there for two consecutive years while i was studying in BJ. had good bargain to buy medical books (why medical books cost so much? boleh bankrupt tau). i missed this event last year since i was in Seremban. quite far to travel all the way if got nothing to buy (n busy clinical phase student). but since this year, at this moment i am in KL temporarily, n got nothing to do, i think i dun wanna miss this event. jalan2 tgk buku pun jadi la, ahaqs (well, thinking of financial status kan). tapi tapi.. siapa nk teman kan saya please3? hehe...

hmm.. just a brief update of myself, i m currently in KL maybe for another week. got family matters to settle. owh.. bosannya menanam anggur yg x akan berbuah...

with Dr. KW during our last visit to Kluang Hosp. =)

fuhh.. this week was full of interviews! first, MQA (Malaysian Qualifications Agency, formerly known as LAN) came to audit our uni on tuesday. it is a rare event, once in 3-5 years thing ok. the agency purposedly want to see sem10 as this is the most mature semester. so i guess, our batch is lucky to be the selected batch kot, ahaqs! n me, being the lucky one, was 1 of the 8 selected lucky people from our lucky batch (notice how many lucky word i used?) to bring those people to tour Hospital BP. thank God it went well. they even said that we looked very professional, looked like an HO instead of a med student. we take that as a compliment! n prayers too! hehe.. after the tour, we went to main campus for the Q&A session with the whole batch. Alhamdulillah, i think everything went well. pray that we'll get the accreditation, will ya? :)

n today, i had SPA interview! wow, time flies so fast.. we r finishing our 5-year course within less than 2 months. OMG! is it for real? i hope so. please pray that we'll make through the final really final exam in end of feb. super kancheongness ok!

F,S&V: 1 Malaysia. Multiracial. hehe.. all in baju kurung for SPA interview :P

nways, the interview was very laidback. sempoi gile! no medical question was asked. just a normal conversation. my interviewer was a big shot in the MOH previously (not really sure what was the status, deputy of DG kah?). hmm.. 1 of the topics was 'what r needed for a doctor to be a great doctor?' my answers were not enough. so he told me what his opinion la.. there are 3 things:

1- application of knowledge : now, n future knowledge u have to apply. it is the beauty of Sherlock Holme's story :)

2- documentation: u must write down everything. dun keep it in ur mind. it may save u in the future

3- consultation: never b shy to consult other people's opinion. whatever it is, patient's first

me, nodded.. hehe.. i gained something during this interview despite the long waiting hour.. not bad la kan..

so, now there are many things to do.. a lot of PF to edit. blue sheets to be completed. study study study. huhu~ i think the pressure is increasing.. 5 more weeks to go b4 finals. final yg memang final. can u feel my pressure? huhu~ Ya Allah... gimme strength and patience..

hm, came back home very late last night (1.30am). we lepak2 at old town coffee with Dr. K after our ATLS class. i kind of like trauma course but i dun think i can remain compose in trauma situation. kancheong weih, hehe..

anyway, one of the many topics we discussed about was HO placement. he gave an example of small fish, small pond. small fish, big pond. big fish, big pond. it's like this. imagine HO is like a small fish. if u work in a small hosp (small pond la), it is a good start. u can grow bigger in the small pond, get recognized, get ur experience there. grow big and then if u wanna get transferred to a bigger hospital later, u are well prepared la. let say if u are a small fish and straight away work in a big hospital, u wl face difficulties to grow bigger. imagine small fish in a big pond, susah to be recognized kan? hmm.. n i think he was correct.

so, should i start in a small pond first? huhu~ help me make decision please..

Umat Islam berlumba-lumba membebaskan Constantinople untuk mendapatkan penghormatan yang dijanjikan oleh Allah swt di dalam Hadis tersebut. Walau bagaimanapun, kesemua kempen yang dilancarkan menemui kegagalan. Di antaranya, 5 kempen di zaman Kerajaan Umayyah, 1 kempen di zaman Kerajaan Abbasiyah dan 2 kempen di zaman Kerajaan Usmaniyah.

Di dalam salah sebuah kempen semasa zaman Kerajaan Umayyah, seorang sahabat besar Nabi saw iaitu Abu Ayyub Al Ansary ra telah syahid dan dimakamkan di bawah dinding kubu Kota Constantinople di atas wasiatnya sendiri. Apabila ditanya kenapa beliau ingin dimakamkan di situ maka beliau menjawab, “Kerana aku ingin mendengar derapan tapak kaki kuda sebaik-baik raja yang akan mengetuai sebaik-baik tentera semasa mereka membebaskan Constantinople”. Begitulah teguhnya iman seorang sahabat besar Nabi saw.

Hadis Nabi saw ini direalisasikan hampir 800 tahun kemudiannya oleh Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih, khalifah ke-7 Kerajaan Usmaniyyah dan 150,000 orang tenteranya.
Siapakah Sultan Muhammad Al Fatih? Apakah kehebatan Baginda dan tentera-tenteranya sehingga disebut “sebaik-baik raja” dan “sebaik-baik tentera” di dalam hadis tersebut.

PENGENALAN

Baginda dilahirkan pada 29 Mac 1432 Masihi di Adrianapolis (sempadan Turki – Bulgaria). Walau bagaimanapun, sejarah hidup Baginda sebenarnya telah bermula hampir 800 tahun sebelum kelahirannya kerana telah disebut sebagai “sebaik-baik raja” di dalam Hadis tadi. Baginda juga dikenali dengan gelaran Muhammad Al Fatih kerana kejayaannya membebaskan Constantinople.

Baginda menaiki takhta ketika berusia 19 tahun dan memerintah selama 30 tahun (1451 – 1481). Baginda merupakan seorang negarawan ulung dan panglima tentera agung yang memimpin sendiri 25 kempen peperangan. Baginda mangkat pada 3 Mei 1481 kerana sakit gout. Ada ahli sejarah berpendapat Baginda mangkat diracun.

PENDIDIKAN

Baginda menerima pendidikan yang menyeluruh dan bersepadu. Di dalam bidang keagamaan, gurunya adalah Syeikh Shamsuddin Al Wali dikatakan dari keturunan Sayyidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq ra. Di dalam ilmu peperangan pula, Baginda diajar tentang tektik peperangan, memanah dan menunggang kuda oleh panglima-panglima tentera.

Di dalam bidang akademik pula, Baginda adalah seorang cendekiawan ulung di zamannya yang fasih bertutur dalam 7 bahasa iaitu Bahasa Arab, Latin, Greek, Serbia, Turki, Parsi dan Hebrew. Di dalam bidang Ilmu Pemerintahan pula, ayahanda Baginda , Sultan Murad II, dengan tujuan mendidik, semasa pergi bersuluk ke Pulau Magnesia, telah melantik Baginda yang baru berusia 12 tahun memangku jawatan Khalifah. Dalam usia semuda ini Baginda telah matang menangani tipu helah musuh.

KEPERIBADIAN

Baginda sentiasa bersifat tawadhu’ dan rendah diri . Semasa membina Benteng Rumeli Hissari, Baginda membuka baju dan serbannya, mengangkat batu dan pasir hingga ulamak-ulamak dan menteri-menteri terpaksa ikut sama bekerja

Baginda seorang yang sentiasa tenang, pendiam, berani, sabar, tegas dan kuat menyimpan rahsia pemerintahan. Baginda sangat cintakan ulamak dan selalu berbincang dengan mereka tentang permasalahan negara.

PERSIAPAN AWAL MEMBEBASKAN CONSTANTINOPLE

Selama 2 tahun selepas menaiki takhta, Baginda mengkaji pelan Kota Costantinople setiap malam bagi mengenal pasti titik kelemahannya. Baginda juga mengkaji sebab-sebab kegagalan kempen-kempen terdahulu serta berbincang dengan panglima-panglima perangnya tentang tentang strategi yang sesuai untuk digunakan.

Baginda mengarahkan dibina peralatan perang termoden seperti meriam besar yang boleh menembak bom 300 kg sejauh 1 batu. Benteng Rumeli Hissari dibina di tebing sebelah Eropah, lebih kurang 5 batu dari Kota Constantinople di mana Selat Bosphorus adalah yang paling sempit. Ia dibina bertentangan dengan Benteng Anadolu Hisar di tebing sebelah Asia yang telah dibina oleh Sultan Bayazid Yildirim dahulu. Benteng ini mengawal rapi kapal-kapal yang melintasi Selat Bosphorus. Perjanjian damai dibuat dengan pihak Wallachia, Serbia dan Hungary untuk memencilkan Constantinople apabila diserang nanti.

Baginda membawa bersama para ulamak dan pakar motivasi ke medan perang bagi membakar semangat jihad tenteranya. Sebaik sahaja menghampiri dinding kubu Kota Constantinople, Baginda mengarahkan dilaungkan Azan dan solat berjemaah. Tentera Byzantine gentar melihat 150,000 tentera Islam bersolat di belakang pemimpin mereka dengan laungan suara takbir memecah kesunyian alam.

MELANCARKAN SERANGAN KE ATAS CONSTANTINOPLE

Setelah segala persiapan lengkap diatur, Baginda menghantar utusan kepada Raja Bizantin meminta beliau menyerah. Keengganan beliau mengakibatkan kota tersebut dikepung. Pada 19 April 1453, serangan dimulakan. Kota tersebut hujani peluru meriam selama 48 hari. Setengah dinding luarnya rosak tetapi dinding tengahnya masih teguh.

- Menara Bergerak

Seterusnya Baginda mengarahkan penggunaan menara bergerak yang lebih tinggi dari dinding kubu Byzantine dan memuatkan ratusan tentera. Tentera Byzantin berjaya memusnahkan menara tersebut setelah ianya menembusi dinding tengah kubu mereka.

- Bantuan Dari Pope Vatican

Pope di Rome menghantar bantuan 5 buah armada yang dipenuhi dengan senjata dan tentera. Perairan Teluk Golden Horn direntang dengan rantai besi untuk menghalang kemaraan armada Usmaniyah. Ini menaikkan semula semangat tentera Bizantin.

- Melancarkan Kapal Perang Dari Puncak Gunung

Kegembiraan mereka tidak lama. Keesokan paginya, mereka dikejutkan dengan kehadiran 72 buah kapal perang Usmaniyah di perairan Teluk Golden Horn. Ini adalah hasil kebijaksanaan Baginda mengangkut kapal-kapal ke atas gunung dan kemudian diluncurkan semula ke perairan Teluk Golden Horn. Tektik ini diakui sebagai antara tektik peperangan (warfare strategy) yang terbaik di dunia oleh para sejarawan Barat sendiri. Kapal-kapal itu kemudiannya membedil dinding pertahanan belakang kota.

Kapal-kapal perang tentera Byzantin habis terbakar kerana bedilan meriam Usmaniyah. Pertahanan Byzantin menjadi semakin lemah. Baginda mengambil kesempatan pada malamnya dengan memberikan semangat kepada tenteranya serta mengingatkan mereka kepada Hadis Rasulullah saw dan bersama-sama berdoa kepada Allah swt.

- Memanjat dan Melastik Dinding Kota

Keesokan paginya tentera Usmaniyah cuba memanjat dinding dalam kubu dengan tangga dan cuba merobohkannya dengan lastik besar. Tentangan sengit pihak Byzantin menyebabkan ramai yang syahid. Baginda memerintahkan tenteranya berundur dan bedilan meriam diteruskan sehingga tengahari.

- Karisma Seorang Pemimpin

Pengepungan selama 53 hari tanpa sebarang tanda-tanda kejayaan telah menimbulkan rasa bosan dan menghilangkan keyakinan tentera Baginda. Pada saat yang genting ini Baginda berucap menaikkan semangat tenteranya, “Wahai tenteraku, aku bersedia untuk mati di jalan Allah. Sesiapa yang mahu syahid ikutlah aku!”.

Mendengarkan itu, Hasan Ulubate, salah seorang tentera Baginda mengetuai sekumpulan kecil 30 tentera membuka dan melompat masuk ke dalam kubu musuh lantas memacak bendera Islam di situ. Mereka kesemuanya gugur syahid setelah dihujani anak panah musuh. Kemudian tentera-tentera Islam menyerbu bertali arus menembusi barisan pertahanan Byzantin sambil melaungkan kalimah Allahu Akbar.

- Penawanan Constantinople

Pada 29 Mei 1453, Kota Constantinople jatuh ke tangan Islam. Baginda menukar namanya kepada Islambol (Islam keseluruhan) . Gereja Besar St Sophies ditukar kepada Masjid Aya Sofiya. Baginda dengan tawadhuknya melumurkan tanah ke dahinya lalu melakukan sujud syukur. Semenjak peristiwa inilah Baginda diberi gelaran “Al Fatih” iaitu yang menang kerana kejayaannya membebaskan Constantinople.

SEBAIK-BAIK RAJA DAN SEBAIK-BAIK TENTERA

Pada kali pertama solat Jumaat hendak didirikan, timbul pertanyaan siapa yang layak menjadi imam. Baginda memerintahkan kesemua tenteranya termasuk dirinya bangun lantas bertanya, “Siapa di antara kita sejak baligh hingga sekarang pernah meninggalkan solat fardhu walau sekali sila duduk!”. Tiada seorang pun yang duduk, kerana tidak seorang pun di antara mereka pernah meninggalkan solat fardhu.
Baginda bertanya lagi, “Siapa di antara kita yang sejak baligh hingga kini pernah meninggalkan solat sunat rawatib sila duduk!”. Sebahagian daripada tenteranya duduk.
Kemudian Baginda bertanya lagi, “Siapa di antara kamu sejak baligh hingga ke saat ini pernah meninggalkan solat tahajjud walaupun satu malam, sila duduk!”. Kali ini semuanya duduk, kecuali Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih sendiri. Baginda tidak pernah meninggalkan solat fardhu, Solat Sunat Rawatib dan Solat Tahajjud sejak baligh . Inilah dia anak didikan Syeikh Shamsuddin Al Wali. Bagindalah sebaik-baik raja yang telah diisyaratkan oleh Rasulullah saw di dalam Hadisnya itu.

nway, yesterday morning while i was doing my own rounds in the ward, i got a text telling me that DR. MAZA telah ditangkap dan akan dibicarakan. atas tuduhan..? ridiculous aint it? i dun wanna be bias here but well, u can think, dont u? my Muslims fren, b awake! even those non-Muslims also know what is happening here. my non-Muslim lecturer stopped our ward round today jus to ask me about this news. see, they care, why dont us the muslims care about our religion? haih... (hoho, macam ter-bias la plak)

hehe.. i was nearly rejected due to the low BP. i've been rejected a few times before bcoz of low pressure anyway. but the Dr let me proceed! wee! last time i donated blood was last December in HPP. it is a long the break but i have a valid reason for that. so when i was eligible to donate this time, i was very happy.

so, when the staff nurse wanted to poke my vein i told her to take from the right side as it is more prominent. unfortunately, she made it thrombosed! i never had this problem previously. mind u, i've donated a lot of times already so i know which one is good or not. sad la, sakit lak tu.. it got bruises already =( she managed to take blood from left side, which is from a much smaller vein and slower. took quite some times to fill in the 350ml bag. hehe, previously blood bank wl take 450ml from me but since the current weight is not suitable, they took lesser. never mind la.. oh wait, with this, i get the previlege of FREE medical service in the outpatient for 2 years and 2nd class ward too (forgot for how long).. hehe...

but yeah, i am happy! happy to donate blood, happy that someone will insyaAllah recieve my blood n help save a life. a little thing to do but i am satisfied. it makes u feel good, seriously. sape yg x pernah tu, try la! it wont cost u anything!

hm.. early this week, we have new guest! guess what. after a few weeks i've been watering the unidentified plant in our flowerpot, it shows her true colour!! n i just love it!

it's the magic 'vinca plant'!! yoohoo! vinca what? err.. in Malay, it is called kamunting cina or periwinkle in English (correct me if i m wrong) or others may call it myrtle (tho it is also used to call other unrelated species)

Catharanthus roseus @ Vinca rosea. it is more than just a flower

well, what is so magic about this plant? it is used for anticancer! for those who do not know esp my dearest medical colleagues, the great vincristin (Oncovin) used to treat cancer (eg leukaemia) is from this plant! it contains a lot of useful alkaloids. also used to treat other diseases like diabetes, hypertension and also act as tranquilizer. thus, the name of the drug is Vincristine from the vinca word. now it make sense rite =)

n if u r aware enough, Majlis Kanser Nasional @ MAKNA uses this vinca flower as its logo. cool!

hoho~ masyaAllah.. tak ku sangka pokok yg bersepah2 tepi jalan kat kampung tu rupanya full of magic! so, do not underestimate pokok kampung! n also dun judge a plant by its leaves/flowers! each of them have their own specialties. hihi...

it has been a very long and tiring week.. aduh.. masa berlalu terlalu pantas! exam semakin dekat.. dup dap, dup dap...

masa 1st day masuk SCN, sy ada ternampak sorang baby ni tgh tido nyenyak (as sound as a baby hehe), all limbs were in cast. my first impression? fractured limbs in an infant- either non-accidental injury, or some congenital anomaly that make the infant prone to fracture. n tada!! actually the infant had severe type 3 osteogenesis imperfecta (OI)! what an unlucky infant! then i asked about the infant to an HO there, and the HO said, actually the mother also has it, n the mother has blue eyes! ok ok.. blue sclera, not the iris la. so, sy dan rakan2 x sabar2 nk tggu the mother datang so that dapat tgk mata dia (sgt la perak ok)..

tunggu punya tunggu, hari jumaat tu cast dah xde, kena bukak dah.. dan akhirnya.. the mother came with the grandmother. first impression: the mother is short and a bit kyphosis. and then, ada 2 physiotherapists came, asking me, 'ni ke baby transformers tu?' i was like, 'uh? oh ok.. yes, he is'.. lol! no more cast, that's y they were confused, mana la baby transformers tu.. ahaqs! actually the infant was about to b discharged n referred to HUKM. he was in the SCN since day 6 of life until that day, about day 43 of life kot. lama gile..

so, sy dgn muka selamba mula la interview the mother n grandmother. the grandma said, actually the mother dulu pun slalu patah tulang (bahu, clavicle, hip etc. that is why the mother looks short and a bit kyphosis) since she can walk. but not as severe as this infant la. after dah interview tu, sy minta nak tgk mata the mother. waa!!! the sclera were blues! greyish-blue! yeay! first time tgk tu, slama ni tgk kat buku je kan. n then, masa the mother nak tgk her baby, baby tu bukak mata sket (akhirnya!) n ternampak la mata biru nya itu.. super cool! itu lah ceritanya si baby blue eyes..

ok, kepada sesiapa yg bukan in medical line, sila cari sendiri pasal OI ni. basically, it's the brittle bone disease, autosomal dominant inheritance. interesting! if u are curious enough la.. selamat mencari! =)

owh, tetibe teringat yg sy pernah tgk iris yg different colours, sebelah biru n sebelah dark brown, pon masa paediatrics posting. it's the heterochromia iridium in Waardenburg Syndrome. pun autosomal dominant. that one pun cool gile!

waa.. lama gile x update. been busy with studies n all. can u believe it, our finals is just around the corner!! OMG! m already kancheong! time flies so fast!

nway, currently in paediatrics posting. for the first week, i am posted to special care nursery (SCN). only went to the ward for a few times for bed side teaching. other than that, i stayed in the 'nursery'. what a nice experience handling little babies who r just a few days of life. they r so cute ok. tak tahan!! wl write on a few stories bout them nx time.

currently my mood is so labile, m easily irritated. i think my anger threshold is getting lower n lower. being a leader is not a good thing for me. aiyoo.. if it continues like this for another 3 weeks, m so gonna need medication- anti-anxiety n anti-HPT. ahaqs! sabar frh, sabar..

talking bout anger, teringat satu topic yg dibincang masa usrah, iaitu salah satu nama Allah: al-Hilmi.
dari segi bahasa it means
1- tenang ketika marah atau menghadapi sesuatu yg tidak disukai sedangkan dia mampu utk marah dan ada kuasa
2- tenang dan mendisiplin diri
3- akal (rasional)

petanda sifat al-Hilmi dan menahan kemarahan:
- bersabar menghadapi gangguan org2 jahil dan tidak berdendam
- menghormati pandangan org yg tidak sependapat dgn kita
- berusaha melihat aspek positif yg terdapat dlm pandangan yg tidak selari dgn pandangannya dan mengambil faedah drpdnya
- kurang perbalahan dan pertelingkahan
- dikasihi dan dihormati
- mengaku kesalahan yg dilakukan dan berlaku adil terhadap diri

apa patut buat ketika sedang marah?
- berlindung kpd Allah drpd syaitan terkutuk

- solat 2 rakaat dan panjangkan sujud
- perbanyakkan doa yg ma'tsur, iaitu "ya Allah, ya Tuhan kami, Tuhan Nabi Muhammad SAW. Ampunkan dosaku, hilangkan sifat kemarahan hatiku, dan peliharalah aku drpd kesesatan fitnah"

I am sorry that I am not a good writer but I will try to write on what I know, what I learnt from KBAZ last week. Well, it is just a summary actually. What I can conclude from all the speakers; Dr. Roslan bin Mohd Nor, Dr. Azzam al-Tamimiy and Dr. Mohsen Salleh. I think I should skip the history of Palestine-Israel as u can find it in other numerous sites.

Well, the theme of this convention was “the end of Zionism”. One should understand that Muslims do not fight against Jews but rather the Zionists.
Why we are fighting the Zionists? It is simply because the usurped the land of Palestine, expelled its people from their homeland and transgressed their sacred places.

“The end of Zionism”.
Why currently we say that the Zionist project is facing a big crisis?

- Heroic and escalating resistance against the Zionists. The spirit of Jihad, with numerous Intifadahs.
- The rise of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the Islamic trend, which do not compromise on the full rights of the Palestinians and reject to recognize ‘Israel’.
- The wide spread of awareness among Muslims and the world about the danger of the Zionist project, and the increasing support to Palestinians. Zionists ARE barbarians, aren’t they? The ever increasing brutality with which the Zionist regime is dealing with the Palestinians is a clear sign of desperation and panic.
- The drought of the Jewish immigration to ‘Israel’. More than two thirds of world Jewry today remains posted far away from Palestine and an increasing number of Jews see ‘Israel’, the body of Zionist dream, more as a liability than as asset.
- The increasing numbers of Palestinians in historical Palestine that outnumbered the Jews in very few years.
- The failure of the Zionists to impose their conditions on Palestinians, by what ever means they tried. The failed to become a natural part of the region even after 61 years of establishing ‘Israel’.

These are just some of the reasons why Zionism is facing imminent collapse in Palestine.
Muslims should be assured that, however, long it may take, the Zionist project will be uprooted in fulfillment for Allah’s solemn promise in the opening verses of surah al-Isra’ whose meaning in translation is as follows:

“… so when the second warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple, as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power” al-Isra’:7

Muslims in Palestine are fighting the Zionists with their own blood, stones and weapons. For us, the Muslims out of Palestine, this is our Jihad, Jihad with knowledge, money, and all that we have. Out Jihad is to get back to our source of strength; Islam.

Palestine always has a special place in the heart of every Muslim. Why??

- according to al-Quran, it is a sacred and blessed land

- it contains al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the first Qibla (direction of Muslim prayer)

- al-Aqsa also is the third most sacred mosque in Islam

- it is the land of al-Isra' (Night Journey)

- it is the land of many prophets

today we (azi, husna, g, hanim n me) went to PWTC for 'Konvensyen Berakhirnya Agenda Zionis' (KBAZ). the convensyen was brought by Persatuan Belia Islam Nasional (PEMBINA) and AMAN Palestin Bhd. overall, it was very good!! for a very first big event by these two NGOs, seriously it was very good.

there were 3 presenters from Msia n Palestine; Dr. Roslan bin Mohd. Nor, Dr. Azzam al-Tamimiy and Dr. Mohsen Salleh. the whole event was about the history of Palestine and Israel, the current status of Zionist agenda, and what we can do as a Muslim to support our brothers and sisters in Palestine. in a short period, we were enlightened by these presenters on the flaws of Zionism idea and the end of Zionism. cool! this is really what we did not know. the facts that is hidden by the western mass media. shame on you Zionis!

apart from the presentations, there were souvenirs and good food too! hehe..

hmm.. i need to do 'homework' on all the paperworks presented today. insyaAllah if i have time, i will share some with you. today i am just too exhausted. but i cant promise la ye, quite busy this semester. maybe if u ask me personally then only i entertain. chewah!! =D

dlm masa 3 minggu dalam wad gynae (sakit puan), byk perkara psl kehidupan sy belajar. lebih2 lagi dalam kehidupan alam rahim. antara kes2 yg dijumpai kat wad:

- ectopic pregnancy during first/ second pregnancy. maksudnya pregnancy bukan dalam uterus/rahim. slalunya fetus ada kat tiub fallopian (yg sambungkan ovari (kilang telur) dgn rahim). treatment slalunya kena operate - unilateral partial salpingectomy, iaitu buang tiub fallopian tu. maka, tinggal sebelah je tiub fallopian yg ada.

- first trimester miscarriage in first pregnancy. bila buat scan, rupenya rahim tu ada masalah kongenital- bicornuate uterus, iaitu rahim ada dinding kat dalam tu, so nmpk macam heart shape. slalunya, rahim ni x dapat menampung kandungan dan akan berakhir dgn keguguran. bentuk lebih kurang macam ni:

- pasangan ni baru berkahwin selama 4 bulan. belum ada anak. one day, the female partner complaint of constipation. bile g hospital and investigated, rupenya the female ada ovarian and uterine cancer. so, kena remove all the ovaries, tiub fallopian, and uterus (TAHBSO). so, never can have child la

- female partner datang utk buat lap-and-dye for infertility for 8 years. maksudnya, buat operation masukkan scope dlm abdomen and tgk patency of tiub fallopian guna dye.

- patient dtg dgn per vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy. diagnosed as complete miscarriage. yg sedihnya, that was the first pregnancy, IUI (intrauterine insemination) lagi. IUI tu sejenis cara utk mengandung, bila ada masalah fertility. as in this patient, infertility for 5 years

- patient at 23 weeks of gestation, dtg utk termination of pregnancy because of anencephaly. anencephaly tu ialah sejenis masalah kongenital di mana otak/ tengkorak kepala tak membentuk. nk tau lebih lanjut, google sendiri la ye. sy xnk letak gmbr anencephaly kat sini.

tu just a few of the cases we have seen in the ward. tak masuk byk lagi kes2 kanser servik/ rahim/ ovari. mmg depressing jugak la as compared to obstetrics ward.
pastu, bila tgk all these couples sume ada masalah nk dpt anak, sy pon terpikir la masa dpn. what if these things happened to me? how would i cope with this? wl my partner always be by my side? huhu~ nauzubillah.. takutnya. hopefully i will get a good husband. mahu sgt ok. hehe.. just wait until the time comes la. no speculation please :)

oh btw, sape2 yg dah kawen n dah ada sexual intercourse, or plan so in the future, do go for PAP smear for cervical cancer screening. pegi je klinik kerajaan, free! tgh promote ni, hehe...

just thought to share with u a case i've clerked in the gynaecology ward yesterday.

a 22 y/o female Muslim, enganged, presented to hospital with a swelling at the private part, associated with pain and mild fever for 6 days. on examination, it was a swollen left bartholin's cyst abscess. I&D was done. on further questioning, the girl admitted that she has active unprotected sexual intercourses with her fiance. they planned to get married in this coming December.

hm..
for non-medical readers, Bartholin's gland is situated at the female private part, which normally produce 'moisturizer'. it is normally not palpable unless it is blocked or infected. usually it is associated with sexually transmitted disease but it is not an exclusive cause.

if you were the doctor, how would u counsel her?
as a Muslim doctor, how would u tackle this problem?

as a Muslim, how would u tell the girl that her act with her fiance is a sin?

when i first see this case and i knew the story, i was like- padan muke, why u have sexual intercourse before married?
on the second thought, who am i to punish her, isn't it. what she has done is not my problem. it is the future that is matter most. what can i do as a Muslim sister to prevent her from repeating the same sin? it was a tough job. she knew that her act is a sin. 'kalau parents saya tau ni mati la saya'.. from my judgement, she is not from a very well educated background. to tell and lecture her on how her act is a sin is clearly not a good move. in fact, i had to level down to talk to her. n somehow, i managed to talk to her regarding the 'problem'. it was a very brief one but i think i did deliver my intention and she seems to accept it. Alhamdulillah.. at least i have done something good during my on-call on sunday night =)

well, that was not the first time i encounter such a social problem of pre-marital sexual intercourse. it is indeed a hard situation to face to. the problem is more than just an abscess, more than just an ectopic pregnancy. well, as a Doctor, u r not supposed to mix ur religious principle with other people's. but as a Muslim, u have the obligation for 'amal maaruf nahi mungkar'..

a right way at the right time is the solution, i think. don't u think so? =)

pagi2 buta td ayah called. ayah cakap banchik ngadu yg dia sgt stressed dgn course dia. banchik amek landscape architure (LA) di UiTM perak. banchik ada byk sgt assignment, sampai dia dan kawan2 dia dah x tido for 2-3 hari. teruk sgt. ramai sgt batchmate dia gave up the course. tp banchik xnak give up. dia suke sgt LA, and i admit that he's really good at it. dalam family, cuma banchik je yg terer lukis. dia sorg je yg suke art stream. yg lain tu tidak. ayah cakap masa call semalam banchik sampai nanges2. sgt susah utk tgk banchik nanges sbb dia seorg yg sgt keras and macam xde perasaan sgt (ops). so, ayah called akak suruh akak call banchik n bagi moral support. well, i guess it's one of a sister's obligation, rite? x senang nak jadi anak sulung ni..

dun give up. akak tau hang boleh buat. life is not easy. always remember that we will always be by ur side.

this morning we went to Hosp Kuala Pilah for chest clinic there. i just hate the road to KP. bukit putus memutuskan urat saraf. ergh.. with vestibules like mine, u wl just hate any journey which involve jalan bengkang bengkok mengalahkan ular sawa. once i set my feet on the ground after the journey, my world will spin. luckily i din not vomit. i just hate the journey. the clinic was cool. we got to see a variety of cases there. it was a good thing bcause we only have chest clinic in HKP once in 6 months. yeah, we were the lucky ones.

back from KP, again my world spinned but not so much. i would hv enjoyed the journey if my vestibules are smart. (some ppl said that motion sickness is due to the 'not so smart' vestibules. they r just confused between kinetic and static motion). hmm... rupenye di KP ada sawah bendang.. n i saw a lot of signboard with 'tapak megalitic' or megalithic site. apekebendenye tu?

hmm.. today i learnt that there is always a first time for everything even how strong i tried to avoid it. sometimes the first time is not a good one. as a human being, we dun like a bad thing to happen but it just happened. we have to accept it and think of it the positive way. without the first time, we will never have the experience. there is always a reason why things happened. i thanked Allah for that. but when i think again, it scares me. is it a sign of a bad thing to come? nauzubillah.. i cant help to think about it. ya Allah... give me the strength to overcome this naughty thought. give me the strength to keep on going with life. i am just scared. i am just stressed. or am i just thinking too much?

am having right sided chest pain due to excessive cough. sakitnye.. last 2 weeks i went to KKS and recieved a course of erythromycin antibiotic. today i went again and the Dr prescribed me amoxycillin. she even ordered me to have throat swab for C&S since my throat still inflammed. prolonged cough for almost 1 month. no sputum. what's in ur mind? hehe..

hmm.. medical posting is almost finishing. nx week we r having long case and written examinations. do pray for us. i hope this will be our last semester in Seremban. 1 more semester in Seremban and another in Batu Pahat. then we'll be an HO. insyaAllah.. doakan ye :)

i was browsing my pictures last nite. then i saw this little girl's picture. wow! she's turning 4 today!! how time flies very fast!

this little girl calls me mak long farah tho i always kinda 'remind' her to call me kak farah. hihi.. x sedar diri eh.. well, she is my cousin's daughter, so technically my anak sedara jugak rite. it's just that i still feel young, since i am not married yet. betul x? hihi..

this little girl always accompany me when i went to kampung to cabut rumput. she did nothing but talk. haha.. so cute. she has the pelat, talks very fast at high pitch. mmg comel..

mind u, this little girl is very garang. dun make her mad la. especially when u say u want to take away her younger sister. if not u will kena belasah. she will use anything to hit u. no matter who u are. but i like to tease her just to make her angry. even cuter. ahaqs!

Look at the world as one big choc cake. It would never be complete without few sweets & nuts. Sweets like me, & nuts like you!!

*this is a story of my 1st ever attempt at baking. not bad, huh!

since kennok put her choc cake with icing in her blog, it reminds me of her yummylicious brownies (kenn, org tgh promote ni, ahaqs!) she gave me her secret (not a secret anymore) recipe when i went to milo's place sumwhere last January.. so, when i went back to Png for chinese new year, i tried the recipe with the help of little chef; Najwa.

err.. kenn, x jadi sgt la.. the reason was because i was too excited to see the result. i terbalikkan the brownies while it was still hot. muahaha.. maka kemeklah ia... but it still tastes good la. takpe2, practice makes perfect. maybe next time i can do it but with more patience..

what a hectic semester!! i am too exhausted. partly because of the coughing. it has been almost 2 weeks and i am still coughing. enough of 3 days in the ward with mask. even pakcik at Protec also advised me to see a Dr.. ahah.. if only he knew who am i.. hihi... dun worry, i took a course of antibiotic already. i think the cough is lesser today. hopefully by nx week i am alright..

hm.. vimi gave us the above quotation during our lunch today. she said it's da vinci's quote but i can't find it. wuteva la.. it's worth to think about.. i always expect more from others. in the end, i am the one who is always upset. enuf of it. no more high expectation for other ppl. it's tiring kan.. hmm..

currently i'm having bad cough. dry cough, with greenish sputum only when i woke up this morning (penangan asap BBQ smlm).. since batuk teruk sgt for almost 1 week, my abs muscle pun dah sakit.. anak tekak pon terasa nk tercabut je.. strepsils x membantu langsung! (ade org tu kate strepsils tu placebo je, ahaqs!) nabia gave me Difflam lozenges, n i bought Dequadin lozenges. hopefully the cough wl subside soon. (tetibe terpikir, kalo overdose the lozenges ape jadi ek?) ya Allah.. sembuhkanlah daku sblm masuk medical ward nx week..

another bad news is arif, my 14 y/o cousin was admitted last nite because of dengue fever. kesiannya.. arif my dear, b tough ok! syafakillah... insyaAllah, i'll c u soon. i doakan u cepat sembuh..

esok exam lagi. tadi clinical exam was quite bad. i cant recognize aortic stenosis murmur.. urgh!! mistaken it for MR.. what a big mistake!!

esok ada SAQ for ortho, psy and familimed postings.. lagi la cuaks!! doakan utk saya please..

esok juga menandakan hari terakhir sebagai sem8 student.. seronok? takut? hmm...

pagi tadi pula sem10 dapat result professional exam drg. Alhamdulillah, sume passed. 100%. we r happy for them. selamat menjadi Dr yg bagus ye akak2 dan abg2.. berkhidmat utk negara dan agama =)

when i was in the GP clinic, an Indo patient came in with complaints of gastric and back pain. he is a construction worker here. when asked why he din eat properly, he said; 'x cukup makan. gaji hari2 rm35 perDAY. itu pun bukan hari2 boleh kerja dan dapat duit. x cukup duit la'.

then, what came across my mind was; locum Dr is paid rm35 (on average) perHOUR. it's ironic, isn't it?

that's life..

but to think about it, a Dr has to study for more than 5 years to get the title. mind u, it's not an easy path. furthermore, the workload in the government hospital is massive!!! *please dun compare this to private Dr ok.. there are major differences* especially the housemans-'the lowest living form in the hospital'. owh.. how i wonder my HO life would be! today i dreamt of my HO rotation which starts with paeds. hoho~ x sabar2!

Dr working with government, the paid is not as high as u imagine. tolong la jgn cakap Dr itu kaya ok.. it's a myth! ahaqs!

owh.. nak promote, this saturday 21feb let's go to coll for sports' day!! let's cheer ramai2! (budget ingt cheer songs lagi la, hehe) c ya there insyaAllah...

people say, laughter is the best medicine. true. it can change a people's mood to a better side. it's like put some spices in our life, xde la makan garam je hari-hari. alhamdulillah, we in Malaysia still can laugh everyday but our brothers and sisters in Palestine just can't (literally speaking la). do still pray for them, will you?

whaha.. tetibe terasa nk tulis pasal bidadari dunia lak kali ni. sbbnye another fighter baru je di akad nikah minggu ni. congrats hood!! selamat melayari bahtera rumahtangga =)

actually, sy baca psl bidadari dunia ni dari risalah jabatan mufti kerajaan negeri9. sape bidadari dunia ni? dianya ialah wanita solehah. dan bagi seorang wanita solehah, bidadari bagi suaminya adalah di kalangan bidadari-bidadari kurniaan Allah. Isteri solehah pula merupakan ketua kepada segala bidadari tersebut. masyaAllah.. indah bukan?

sabda Rasulullah yg bermaksud:

hmm.. sy xnak cite panjang lebar psl isteri solehah ni. rasanya semua dah tau ape ciri2 dia kan. yg sy nk cite is a few months ago, my auntie tetibe tnya psl my umur. gurls talk la kire kan. so i told her, i'm 23. she terdiam sambil berfikir. "hm.. u add another 2 years, usu kahwin at that age la".. ok.. i can sense sumting fishy here.. then, on my mom's birthday, she asked me about marriage. dush!! heh.. i used so many reasons not to talk bout it, really. entahla.. it's a mix feeling. xtau nak describe cmne.. again, during my holiday last week at home, my younger brother asked me "bila hang nak kawen?" ouch! bile a younger sibling ask u that sort of question, a boy lak tu, can u feel the pressure? (please, please say yes)..

ok, i agree that 24 years old is good enough to think about about marriage and all. or even getting married. it is worst when u r the eldest in the family. all ur cousins got married before they were at ur current age. n u r the eldest granddaughter in one side of the family. ergh.. but hey, gimme some space to breathe.. not that i never think about it, banyak kali ok (ops, kantoi, ahaqs).. but when the time comes, i will let u know. it will, insyaAllah, happen.. just that i dunno when. n my beloved frens dear, dun pressure2 ok.. haha.. i am not mad, just, yeah, gimme a break.. i will let u know when the time comes. i promise, dun worry la. banyak sungguh spekulasi kalian.. tapi sorry la, x mengena lagi, hihi..

hmm.. i'm back in TG, until 31Jan. here is just a random update on what i have done in this one month of January.

3-4 Jan: went to Batu Pahat for IMU's community project- Kg Angkat. good learning experience. cant wait to go to Bt Pht for final semester. cepatla abes blaja! huhu~

ok2.. during this 1 month, i dun really read academic book; be it ortho or psy (in major postings rite now). *ape nak jadi dgn kamu ni cik frhyh?* among the books that i read are:

- aA+bB by Hlovate (recommended by milo)

- PROZAC NATION. young and depressed in America. a memoir. by Elizabeth Wurtzel (recommeded by Dr. PG)

- an undefeated mind by Prof Kua EH.

- King of Torts by John Grisham (err.. ni x abes lg)

hehe.. yeah, crazy.. but i like! as long as i can still functioning as a student in class, i dun really mind reading non-academic books. lgpun, bile lg nk buat keje x tentu hala ni kan, sem8 is the time la! hihi.. maybe i can share my view on those books in other entry :)

hmm.. tu je kot for now. btw, happy chinese new year to my chinese friends!

well, actually this article was not written by me but a friend. a friend who likes to write but does not have a blog/ friendster/ facebook. u can't find him aywhere in the internet. he has his own reason. :) however, he gave me permission to put this in MY blog.. i think there will be more from him.. insyaAllah...

here it goes~

Saje je nk amik kesempatan masa nih nak share ttg erti "pengorbanan menyeru kpd Allah swt". Pada pandangan sy, soal mengenai "kekeringan dakwah" mungkin pd segi semangat & keyakinan kita utk melaksanakan dakwah, dan bukannye dari segi kekurangan ilmu dakwah yg dimiliki. Ilmu dakwah x pernah pun "kering", malah sentiasa segar-bugar. Mana2 saja ilmu dakwah kita boleh dapat. Tapi, tulah org kata, semangat/istiqamah/keyakinan tuh kdg2 susah utk dikecapi.

Tetapi, tahukah siapa sebenarnya org yg dianugerahkan kejayaan yg besar di sisi Allah swt?

Firman Allah swt:
"Siapakah yang lebih baik perkataannya daripada orang yang menyeru kepada Allah, mengerjakan amal yang salih dan berkata: "Sesungguhnya aku termasuk orang-orang yang menyerah diri?". Dan tidaklah sama kebaikan dan kejahatan. Tolaklah (kejahatan itu) dengan cara yang lebih baik, maka tiba-tiba orang yang antaramu dan antara dia ada permusuhan seolah-olah telah menjadi teman yang sangat setia. Sifat-sifat yang baik itu tidak dianugerahkan melainkan kepada orang-orang yang sabar dan tidak dianugerahkan melainkan kepada orang-orang yang mempunyai kejayaan yang besar." (Fussilat: 33-35)

Jelaslah drpd soklan retorik Allah swt (Fussilat:33) bahawa org yg menyeru kpd Allah swt & mengerjakan amal salih gerenti/sah-sah akan dianugerahi kejayaan yg besar di sisi Allah swt. Sekaligus memberi makna bahawa kedua2 amalan ini adalah amalan hambaNya yang paling tinggi/mulia di sisi Allah swt, without doubt. Cuba bayangkan kita ditempatkan di kalangan org yg memperoleh kejayaan/kemenangan yg besar.........bagaimana ye keadaannye?

Firman Allah swt:
"Hai orang-orang yang beriman, mahukah kamu aku tunjukkan suatu perniagaan yang dapat menyelamatkan kamu dari azab yang pedih? (Iaitu) kamu beriman kepada Allah dan rasul-Nya dan berjihad di jalan Allah dengan harta dan jiwamu. Itulah yang lebih baik bagi kamu jika kamu mengetahuinya, nescaya Allah akan mengampuni dosa-dosamu dan memasukkan kamu ke dalam syurga yang mengalir di bawahnya sungai-sungai dan (memasukkan kamu) ke tempat tinggal yang baik di dalam syurga 'Adn. Itulah kemenangan yang besar." (Al-Saff: 10-12)

MasyAllah.....habuan yg Allah swt beri, jauh lebih baik & tidak ternilai oleh apa2 habuan sekalipun. Kemudian Allah swt menambah lagi:

"Dan (ada lagi) kurnia yang lain yang kamu sukai (iaitu) pertolongan dari Allah dan kemenangan yang dekat (waktunya). Dan sampaikanlah berita kepada orang-orang yang beriman." (Al-Saff: 13)

Ketahuilah bahawa, jalan utk mencapai kemenangan yang besar akan sentiasa dibantu oleh Allah swt. Allah swt takkan membiarkan rengkok & menyusahkan kita utk mencapai kemenangan yg besar, malah siap tolong kita lagi utk mencapai kemenangan yg besar. Ini dikuatkan lagi dgn firman Allah berikutnya:

"Hai orang-orang yang beriman, jadilah kamu penolong-penolong (agama) Allah sebagaimana Isa Putera Maryam telah berkata kepada pengikut-pengikutnya yang setia: "Siapakah yang akan menjadi penolong-penolongku (untuk menegakkan agama) Allah?" Pengikut-pengikut yang setia itu berkata: "Kamilah penolong-penolong agama Allah," lalu segolongan dari Bani Israel beriman dan segolongan (yang lain) kafir; maka Kami berikan kekuatan kepada orang-orang yang beriman terhadap musuh-musuh mereka, lalu mereka menjadi orang-orang yang menang." (Al-Saff: 14)

Memang benar jalan dakwah sgt berliku dan penuh ngn cabaran seperti yg digambarkan oleh firman Allah berikut:

"Dan sungguh akan Kami berikan cubaan kepadamu, dengan sedikit ketakutan, kelaparan, kekurangan harta, jiwa dan buah-buahan. Dan berikanlah berita gembira kepada orang-orang yang sabar." (Al-Baqarah: 155)

Tapi semua cabaran dari Allah ni adalah utk mematangkan dan menguatkan semangat kita utk terus berdakwah. Kdg2, kalo semangat da pudar, time tulah syaitan mula mengusik kita. Namun jangan risau, Allah swt tak akan jemu untuk menambahkan lagi bantuan kpd kita seperti firman Allah swt berikut:

Begitu kasihnya Allah swt kepada kita sehingga terlalu banyak bantuan yg dikurniakanNya kpd kita utk menegakkan kalimahNya. Alangkah baiknya kalo kita dpt menghargai bantuan Allah swt dan sungguh x malunya perangai hambaNya yg tidak mensyukuri nikmat diberiNya. Allah swt bukan stakat membantu, tp menjanjikan kemenangan yg besar kpd hambaNya yg menyeru kpd Allah swt. Dari sini, kita dpt lihat tugas seorang hamba Allah ialah menyeru kpd Allah. Pasal bantuan ke, habuan ke....sumanya akan di"settle" olehNya. So, x yah la kita nk risau2 atau ragu2 ttg dakwah.Dan ketika menghadapi kesusahan, berdoalah kpd Allah swt supaya jalan dakwah dipermudahkan lagi olehNya seperti yg ditunjukkan dalam ayat 286, surah al-Baqarah:

"..........Ya Tuhan kami, janganlah Engkau hukum kami jika kami lupa atau kami tersalah. Ya Tuhan kami, janganlah Engkau bebankan kepada kepada kami beban yang berat sebagaimana Engkau bebankan kepada orang-orang yang sebelum kami. Ya Tuhan kami, janganlah Engkau pikulkan kepada kami apa yang tidak sanggup kami memikulnya. Beri maaflah kami; ampunilah kami; dan rahmatilah kami.........."

i dun regret my choice of doing selective in Hosp Pulau Pinang (HPP).. i'm luving it very much! sadly, the time has nearly come... suddenly, 4 weeks seems to be very short. the experiences i gained are priceless, n i believe i can't get them anywhere else. Alhamdulillah :)

btw, been reading la tahzan (jgn bersedih) book byDr. 'Aidh 'Abdullah Al-Qarni.. kire macam chicken soup for the soul for Muslims la, n non-Muslims can read it too! i just would like to share one of the topics in the book. simple yet deep.. (sorry, it's a bit Indonesian) here it goes-

1. almost everyday i spend my morning till afternoon in a clinic near my house.. great experience i shall say. mebi i din learn a lot, but its the little things that i learnt means a lot. (i 'berguru' with 6 Dr's tau :P ) Alhamdulillah.. i already did suturing n IM injection. and observed a lot of circumcision (khitan) the 'traditional' way that i think if i were given a chance, i can do it! hehe.. (circumcision is not in the syllabus here in Malaysia, but in Indonesia) (my 1st experience of observing circumcision was in last year, at that time they used cauterization technique)

2. i have finished reading a few novels and a book.
- Dalam Mihrab Cinta by Habiburrahman el-Shirazy
- Sandaran Hati by Aini Marisha
- Should A Muslim Follow A Particular Madhhab? by Sheikh Muhammad Sultan Al-Ma'soomi Al-Khajnadee
- Tika Rindu Berlagu by Lily Suriani
Not bad, huh! frens, grab the chance to read non-medical books while u still can! do not waste time doing nothing :)

3. girls day out! watched "Madagascar- escape to Africa" with the kiddies (najwa, sarah, dina) at sunway carnival. best! i always lurve cartoons by the way. and fantasy genre. they always work on me. yeap! an escapism from the stressful life. hm.. while watching it, i missed usu's adorable kiddies! huhu~

4. still searching for a place to stay in penang island during my selective period there. what a tough job! it was me who 'have' to choose the postings to do, n it is me to find a place to stay. (trust me, Png GH is NOT my first choice). haih.. penat la... we cant stay at my house everyday, it's far from the island. argh! any suggestion? a cheap n nearby place to stay.. tolong!

5. been helping a friend doing his presentation on heart failure Tx. he asked me a lot of questions that i sometimes cant answer. mind u, if another non-medical student ask u medical questions, and he can argue ur answer with a better explanation, dun u feel ashame? n challenged? well, at least that was what i felt. thus it forced me to open books and read. pretty good isnt it, hehe.. ok ok, i'm a nerd. period.

6. while chatting with him, suddenly topic of blogging came out. and suddenly i told him that i feel like to slow down or stop blogging.. he said up to me la (heh, as if he reads my blog. i know he doesnt).. so friends, should i or shouldnt i? hehehe...

Alhamdulillah.. last Thursday kak fiza my neighbour just delivered her 1st baby, aka the 1st grandchild of Cik Pah & Pakcik Kamal.. congrats!! the baby girl was delivered in KL, n was brought back to TG on Monday evening. that night, my mom, najwa n me visited kak Fiza n the baby la. she is soo cute and adorable (i bet all babies r like that hehe).. just got a bit of jaundice (kuning) but i think it is just normal 'physiological jaundice', nothing to worry about.

well, the talking is mainly on the event before, during n after the delivery la. the duration of kak fiza's stay in the labour room was just about 10mins only. believe me, that was very2 fast for a 1st timer. one of the questions is did she take 'air selusuh' b4 the delivery? yup, but not right b4 it la, when the pregnancy was in the 7th month kot. hmm.. ok.. since the baby is jaundiced, i asked wether she took any traditional herbs? not yet, she said. and Cik pah already bought 'air mutiara' to reduce the jaundice. err.. never heard about it.. (cant find in the internet either). then, cik pah cite, since it has been a long time since she last pegang baby, she was quite cautious when bathing the baby. she is scared that the baby's cord will fall out masa mandi, sbb org tua2 x bagi tali pusat luruh masa mandi. i asked why? cik pah asked me to ask her mother.. hihi.. x berani la..thus, i dunno why la..

so, kesimpulan here is cik pah said, sometimes we still kena percaya perubatan traditional nih. even if u r a doctor pon. cik pah tau, Frh x percaye kan?
(ye, sy mengangguk.. eg: sbb Dr kat labour room x bagi minum air selusuh. somehow it works to contract the uterus. vigorously, that it can cause uterine rupture. takut x bunyinye? tapi org dulu2 mmg beranak minum air selusuh je. xde inject oxytocin/pitocin ni pon kan.. hehe)

hm.. entahla.. bukan xnak caye tp sebab kite blaja modern medicine kan.. tp as long as it does not cause more harm than benefit, just let it go la.. ye x? :)

talking about traditional meds, my father just bought a plant called 'belimbing tanah' or its scientific name is tacca integrifolia. it does not look like any starfruit pon ok.. i dunno why it is called like that. it is very unique. macam ada janggut. here r the pics:

according to org tua2, it can b used to treat hypertension, hemorrhoids, diabetes, heart disease and renal disease.. any comment? hehe..

puasa sunat

well.. i think it is still relevent for me to talk about this 'puasa sunat', we r still in Syawal month rite? :) this, i dedicate to all my non-Muslims frens out there, since they asked me a lot regarding the puasa sunat.. mind u, i'm not that good at discussing about religious things but i'll try my best, in simplified way :)

situation: during lunch time

frens: F, let's go eat

F: you guys go la, i'm fasting today

frens: fasting? bulan puasa already past rite?

F: err.. yup..

frens: then?

F: i'm fasting puasa sunat

frens: sunat? what's that for?

F: ahah.. how to say aa.. i'm fasting sunat, means that if i fast, i'll get the reward, if i dun fast, i wl not lose anything.. some more, there is this saying, if we the Muslims puasa sunat for 6 days in raya month (Syawal), the reward is like we r fasting for one whole year..

frens: oowwhh..

then, there is one guy said: owh, if like that, u dun have to fast during puasa month la. u just puasa for 6 days in raya month, n u wl still get the one whole year reward!

F: errkkk!!!

ahah.. that's the confusion!

well my fellow frens, the puasa in bulan Ramadhan is wajib, an obligation, a must. on the other hand, the fasting i said in bulan raya is sunat, means if we do it, we'll get the reward, if we dun do it, nothing will happen. these WAJIB n SUNAT are 2 different things.. if we dun do the sunat things, it is not a sin. n God will love it if we do it. the wajib thing is compulsory, if we dun do it, we'll get sin.. (senang cerita la)

so, the puasa in bulan Ramadhan is wajib, n in raya month is sunat.. how to do a sunat while u dun do the obligatory one? logic tak? also, the puasa during Ramadhan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.. if one pillar is down, the Islam is not complete. how to get rewards if we dun do the compulsory. rite?

hm.. and God is very generous, He gives a lot of reward when u do just simple things.. this is the opportunity to gain His blessings and rewards! (with God's will @ InsyaAllah..) so, this is why i'm fasting... n yah, the puasa sunat is not only applicable during Raya month, it can b done anytime of the year. so, if u see any Muslim fasts during any other time, dun think of puasa ganti (replacement) je tau.. again, the reward of as if u r fasting for one whole year is when u fast 6 days during raya month..

ok.. that's all folk.. anything u still confuse, let me know. InsyaAllah, i'll help to enlighten you :)

had a lunch date with a pharmacist.. who? yatot (5S)!! yup, she's the new batch pharmacist in HTJ.. cool huh! almost 5 years x jumpe now we r under one roof (at least for another nx 10 months). *wait until she gets her 1st pay, bley mintak blanje, ahaqs!! kidding la babe!

was in the ENT clinic. suddenly got a msg from my cousin, finaz saying that my other cousin passed away that morning. sgt terkejut! al-Fatihah utk arwah abg Mat.. semoga arwah dicucuri rahmat.. to Khairun, tabah dan sabarlah menghadapi dugaan.. kita yg hidup, life must go on, kay! remember that u n ur family still have us in kampung.. *guilt of not visiting him during last eid. terbayang2 lagi diingatan kali terakhir sy bertemu dgn arwah*

just found out another doctor in HTJ is my senior in TKC.. ahah.. malu gile.. soalan terbodoh of the day; "Dr ni dak TKC gak ke? batch mana?" yeah, she is lyana's CS besar.. means our CS besar's batchmate, red house too.. ape la frhyh ni, senior pon x knal ke? hehe.. xpe la.. no wonder she looks very familiar but i can't recall.. hmm.. at least i recognised jinan's CS besar here.. not bad la my memory ni :)

IB vs SPM? apekah?

IB or SPM for MCKK and TKC

PUTRAJAYA: Students of Malay College Kuala Kangsar and Tunku Kurshiah College may soon choose if they want to sit for the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.

The IB diploma programme can be used for entry into major universities around the world.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein announced that both schools would be offering the IB from 2011.

"It will be up to the schools to decide if students can sit for one or both examinations," he told reporters after releasing the third report card based on the National Education Blueprint 2006-2010.

In March last year, Hishammuddin said heads of cluster schools would be given autonomy in five key areas: human resources, school funds, student intake, teaching and learning, and examinations and evaluation.

"The heads of both colleges have been given the flexibility to decide. On our part, we want to see results," he said.

Cluster schools have been defined in the blueprint as excellent schools within an existing grouping, and each is supposed to be a role model for other schools.

The schools can apply for funding of up to RM500,000 to carry out various projects, and must also identify niche areas (curriculum and non-curriculum) that they want to focus on.

To date, Hishammuddin said the 30 cluster schools from the first batch had received half of their funding, with the rest to be given based on the performance of the schools.

He said several of the cluster schools were already showing excellent results.

"This includes SK Ulu Lubai in Limbang, Sarawak. This is a rural school but its pupils have a good command of English and have done well in sports and cultural activities," he said.

the MIND, and the VOICES

on the very first day of semester 8, i went to the library to borrow some ophthalmology books. suddenly i remembered a book 1 of our psychiatry lecturers suggested us to read; The Day The Voices Stopped. when i was back in sem7, i wanted to borrow that book but then i was too busy with the EOS7, i decided not to read it until i am really ready for it. yeah, the time has come! i thought minor posting would be such a great time to read a novel *big grin*. hence, i borrowed the book. unfortunately minor postings are not that relaxing, so i took about 2 weeks to finish reading the book (which usually will only takes a few days to finish it).

then, after reading the book, i watched a film also recommended by our lecturer; A Beautiful Mind. it took me ages to start watching it since i already have the video looong time ago. (just need a right time to watch it la).

here are the summaries of the movie and the book. yeah, u can call me a geek! i dun mind, ahaqs!

A Beautiful Mind

this is a movie on John Forbes Nash Jr. , a mathematics genius who struggled with schizophrenia since young (i think). despite the illness, he eventually triumphed over his tragedy and finally recieved the Nobel prize in Economics. *claps*

my opinion: wawawa.. tipah tertipu dek cerita ini! arghh tidak!!! (i shud have knew it!) i luv the part where Nash said: i am terrified, mortified, petrified, stupified, by u when asked by his collegue to play a game. cute isn't it? hehe.. it is worthwhile to watch this movie, the twist is so unexpected. this movie was nominated for 8 categories in Academy awards and won 4 of them.

THE DAY THE VOICES STOPPED- A memoir of madness and hope

this is a story of Ken Steele who 1st heard the voices when he was 14. he was then diagnosed with schizophrenia about 2 years after that. with multiple hospital admissions in many places in the US, he had attemped many suicides (as demanded by the voices) but failed. he also had tried many drugs but again the side effects were very bad and none has helped. then one day, he seek help at the Park Slope Center for Mental Health, and received not only counselling, but also Risperdal. the voices stopped!

my opinion: this book is very inspiring! it's so interesting that what i actually studied during our Psy posting became so real. the best quote is (at least it sounds like this, i forgot the exact words): although they are not heart disease, diabetes mellitus or cancer, mental illnessess are just as real. yeah, sometimes i do think how can these ppl heard voices that normal ppl do not hear. pelik kan? but that's it! they heard it! only God knows how and why..

a bit on this illness-

SCHIZOPHRENIA

it is a psychiatric disorder characterized by a constellation of abnormalities in thinking, emotion, and behaviour. there is no single symptom that is pathognomonic, and it can produce a broad spectrum of clinical pictures. it is usually chronic and debilitating. approximately 1% of all population develops schizophrenia during their lifetime.

their world: distorted perceptions of reality, hallucinations, illusions, and delusions, disordered thinking (concrete understanding), blunted affect/emotion, disorganized speech and behaviour, social withdrawal.

the very first sign often appear confusing or even shocking changes in behaviour. it can be very difficult to cope with the symptoms of schizophrenia especially for family members who remember how involved or vivacious a person was before they becoming ill. family support and family education is very crucial in helping schizophrenic patient, apart from medications, rehabilitation, psychotherapy and self-help gropus.

medications: typical and atypical anti-psychotics. *Risperidone (Risperdal) is an atypical anti-psychotic. its side effects are mild as compared to other anti-psychotics.

but no, i'm not from Permatang Pauh. n i still haven't registered as a voter, ok. ahaqs! i wanted to but i was soo lazy so yeah, i'm not eligible to vote yet :P

we went to our other house in Permatang Pauh on last friday to settle some things. there were soo many posters everywhere. kalah pilihanraya umum that day rasenye.

tak kisah la.. i'm not favoring anyone but i just hope and pray that who win the sit will become a responsible leader. make a change. even a small change does make a big difference. make a better world please... being a leader is not an easy task. and if the poeple choose you, do ur job properly :)

11am: my mom works at mahkamah. so, bila ada kes polis, tentu la kes tu dibawa ke mahkamah, dan keputusan utk buat tuduhan atau tidak diadakan di mahkamah. then pg td, my mom ada la jumpa si pencuri (P) tu.. si P merayu2 kat my mom spy dia tidak dikenakan tuduhan. my mom said, kalo xnak kena tuduh, bayar ganti rugi. lupe lak nak tnya apa reply si P. tp my mom ada ckp, she wanted to discuss with her lawyer friends jugak.

9.30pm: my mom called again.. she said the family of si P came to our house but no1 was at home at that time. P's sister called my mom, nak discuss n merayu spy adiknya tak dikenakan tuduhan. she claimed that her adik tu ada mental illness n she promised to bring si P to see a doctor after this. again my mom said, bayar ganti rugi la. nnt, dia akan bincang dgn family dia dulu.

hmm... yg peliknya,
- my mom check record si P ni. if this kes curi diambil kira, si P dah ada 3 kes polis, (inc 1 juvenile case). last was in 2006. kes curi jugak. kalo la si P ada masalah mental, knape xde intervention within these past 2 years? knape bila ada kes curi baru kata nak bwk jumpa doctor. mind u, the P's sister is a nurse.
- smlm kat balai polis famili P ada dtg, dgn seorg laki lagi. org laki (KP for Kawan Pencuri, not ketua pengawas) x ngaku bila org ckp dia la org yg naik motor n dpt larikan diri tu. tp kan.. cmne famili P tau umah ktrg kalo bukan P atau KP yg tunjukkan, kn? P dah ada kat lokap, so tggl KP la. then td kakak P ngaku, org smlm kt balai tu is KP, n KP la yg tunjukkan umah ktrg (then dia blah)
- byk lg pembohongan yg x masuk akal yg diceritakan oleh kakak si P ni. kalo pk dgn logik mmg la x logik langsung.. tp sy da mls nk type pnjg2..

I passed my sem7 EOS! so did all my Muslim friends! n all my other batchmates (except 1)!

so many things happened during our study break. the good n the bad things.
-the good things were my friends- be it my study groupmates (WC, J, XJ, A n A), other Malays(N, I, A n A, F n F), or seniors. u guys (n girls) did a great job! thanx a lot!!

don't underestimate yourself. you didn't pass because of me. you passed due to your hardwork and God's grace. i just did a small part - Dr. SV

-the bad things, shudnt be written here i guess. the politikus n hatred among each others over just simple (ye ke) things gave me n my best friends headache. come on, grow up please! ok, i shudnt write no more...

Tasek Gelugor, 19Ogos: pada pukul 10.45mlm, sebuah rumah di Taman S***** telah dicerobohi org seorg pemuda berusia 22 tahun yg berniat utk mencuri pokok bonsai. Malang nasibnya, gerak gerinya berjaya dikesan oleh ahli rumah tersebut dan dia ditangkap lalu dibelasah. Pada waktu yg sama, kawannya yg menunggu di motor di luar rumah pula berjaya melarikan diri. Pada pukul 11 lebih, dia dibawa ke balai polis utk ditahan reman. -forsythia.

haih.. dalam debaran menunggu result esok pagi ni, ada je berita yg x sedap didengar. ape la nak jadi dgn anak2 zaman skrg. gejala sosial semakin membimbangkan.. takut nnt adik2 n sedara2 sy pon terjebak dalam gejala2 yg tidak sihat ini. nauzubillah... tu la, pegangan iman dan agama yg kuat adalah penting supaya kita tidak lari dari jalan yg lurus. mmg susah, tp kalo kita berusaha pasti ada hasilnya, ye x? :)

yeah.. we r counting days for our very first professional exam which is on coming 12, 14 & 19 of August.. it's in less than 2 weeks!! God, help us.. huhu~ sgt penat n sgt stress.. n i dun like myself when i am stressed.

here the not-so-good thing happened last week

- i wanted to donate blood but i failed. hehe.. my blood 'float' in the blue fluid thingy (i dunno what it's called).. means my blood does not have enuf iron/haemoglobin la.. instead, i was given ferrous fumarate 200mg & folic acid 5mg.. itu ubat org mengandung ok, hehe...

but there were many the good things happened too

- ortho clinical exam.. yeah, i considered it was good as the exam went quite well though at first my patient din want to talk to me. luckily Mr.B gave another cooperative patient.

- shikin yg ayu datang Seremban!! shikin actually is currently studying in calgary, canada. coming back for her hols.. yeah, we had a great time mkn2 at kyros kebab n shopping at Nilai3.. hehe.. gurls n shopping :)

- today is iffah's besday!! we celebrated at doll tomyam. but we din have full quorum as azi n fadzil weren't there.. actually, this was the 1st time we celebrate iffah's besday since we entered university. usually her besday wl fall in uni hols but this time it's around exam time.. yeah, good thing also

today i went to the ward to practice my clinical skills yg berkarat. so, jus wanna share what i learnt today. let's practice SAQ. medical students, sape nk tolong jawab, u r very welcome!! :)

78 y/o man came with complains of body weakness and loss of appetite for the past 6 months. On examination of the abdomen, there was massive splenomegaly and hepatomegaly.

a) what further history u would like to elicit to come to the diagnosis?

b) what other clinical examination(s) u want to perform? why?

c) what are the common causes of MASSIVE splenomegaly? differential diagnosis la..

d) what r the investigations u would like to carry out?

hm.. soalan2 ni direka je, so i dun have the skema jawapan ye :)
the splenomegaly is really mega (at least from my humble experience). it was extending towards Rt iliac fossa passes the umbilicus. before this is I only palpated mild splenomegaly, usually in Thalassaemic patients. so this morning i was like, 'gile besar spleen ni'... hmm...

my conclusion- Cik Azi, sy rs lama2 kita makan kat kedai yg makin sedap la :)

this morning we had study group in IMU, discussing some past years' paper. whaa.. first time we had full quorum of all 7 Malays in our batch during this discussion, hari in dalam sejarah :)

then after finishing our discussing, Azi wanted to go to JJ since her glasses broke (for dunno how many times already), n by that time we were all famished! (our brain used up too much glucose- hypoglycaemia) ape lagi, i wanted to follow her for lunch. Iffah also wanted to go, Nabia wanted to buy present for her father's birthday, n Fadzil wanted to eat KFC (n get Iffah's radio).. so, all 5 of us (except Ali who wanted to sedate himself with pseudoephidrine n Fiza who went back to Kajang) went to JJ. we had KFC for lunch. gile lapar!!

after lunch n solat, we (Azi, Iffah n me only, Nabia n Fadzil went home already) jalan2 with the aim of buying new shoes!! Azi said this is a good therapy for us who r very stressed with the coming EOS7. yeah, Azi n Iffah really need to buy shoes, but me? it was a want, not a need. whahaha.. but those two little rascals were succeed in hypnotising me to buy new shoes too!! gargh! tapi takpe, not their fault pon, it was me who was very attracted to these shoes.. haih.. there went my money unnecessarily.. i can't really wear them to the wards- not suitable coz 'bahaya'.. eh wait, i can wear them for Yuni's sis's wedding!! tapi nak pakai with baju ape ek? hmm...

am enjoying my ortho posting.. yeah, the POP reminded me of last 9 years netball match, 2T vs 2C.. tak puas ati our class lost to 2C, because our class lost the 'sharp' shooter (yg jatuh terguling2 atas court simen).. 2 days after the fall only i went to hospital. that was my very first time entering hospital seremban. muahaha... currently, O/E, the abrasion scar is still seen on the radial side at distal end of left forearm..

yeah, I'm freaking out when I heard Sue Ling talked about our exam during Kg. Tekir's visit. (yup, I went for another Kg angkat project last week) huhu~ only approximately 7 weeks left to EOS! and I dun think I am ready for it. gosh! when Dr. SR asked what is the pathogen that cause panau, I was like.. yea, I knew it. we learnt during our family medicine.. tapi ape ek? serius x ingat.. then I was like, this is too bad Frh.. 7 weeks left!!!! so, friends, what causes panau? hehehe...

ok, back to cerita kawen.. hmm.. dah lama teringin nak wat entry psl kawen since cinot nak kawen, lagi2 bila cik azi tersayang buat entry khas utk sy.. tapi dah lama sgt tergendala, now cm da xde semangat nak respond. tapi kesimpulannya la, kawen ni satu perkara yg sgt berat, cerita antara 2 org, antara 2 families.. masa bercinta mmg best, tapi kita x tau lagi ape akan jadi after da kawen. memang, kita perlu persediaan yg sgt byk sblm berumah tangga- baik dari mental dan fizikal, jiwa dan jasmani, dan tak lupa jugak, rohani... dan itu la yg byk dari kalangan kita belum bersedia.. maka dgn ini, byk lagi pembacaan yg perlu dilakukan, dan byk lagi nasihat2 yg diperlukan dr org2 yg berpengalaman (macam zaza, ahaqs!!).. bagaimana dgn sy? dah bersedia? hehe.. jawab dlm hati je la.. (ahaha.. azi sure bengang je)
