where is ur red ribbon?

today is Dec 1, World AIDS Day. need not to elaborate more i think. jus giving some statistics on current update.

Globally:
Every 7 seconds someone contracts HIV.
Every 11 seconds someone dies from AIDS.
Number of people with HIV in 2007:
33,200,000 total
30,800,000 adults
15,400,000 women
2,500,000 children
Number of AIDS deaths in 2007:
2,100,000 total
1,700,000 adults
330,000children

well, that's A LOT. yg kesiannya, ramai kanak2 yg dpt from ibu, n ibu2 yg dpt from husband. salah siapa? no answer. yg pasti, we can make a difference. many of us have stigma against HIV+ve patients. even some student doctors also are scared to go to patient if they know he/she has it. it shud not happened actually. they are human being also, with feelings. stigma against them is not fair. sbb tu, they prefer ppl not know if they hv it. i think stigma kill them more than HIV itself.





hehe.. a funny story. i bought this t-shirt from IMU crusAIDSers last year. i bought 2 actually, 1 for me n 1 for Duis a.k.a abang. he told me, 1 day he went to a shop. when he wanted to pay at the counter, the cashier gave him a wierd look. he wondered why. he then realized that he was wearing the red t-shirt. huh~ ape la cashier tu.. jahil. even if my brother has it, the virus won't fly to u la.. ish3.. this shows how general Malaysian population r stil ignorance about HIV/AIDS..
