1st aid & emergency rescue training camp
i'm having generalized myalgia n goldfish+panda's eyes rite now. but i really had fun n gained a lot of experiences during this so-short-24-hours camp. so short yet sooo long. seriously! it was held at Hutan Rekreasi Seremban. i never knew there is such a calm n greeny place in seremban tho been staying here for long time... (*_*)V
at first, there were supposed to be 40 ppl from IMU Srmbn coming to this camp. 12pm friday, only a few ppl turned up at the camp, plus 10++ ppl from IMU BJ. haihh.. nvr mind la tho Dr. Maha (a surgeon at HTJ, a.k.a pengarah bhgn paramedik, emergency rescue services, ERSM) targeted 70 ppl to join. all in all, about 27 ppl joined it. bravo ppl!! not many IMU students r as tough as us, ahaqs!! (excluding all the sick n having exam ppl la)
2pm: our 1st activity was 1st aid lecture by Dr. Maha himself. short but precise. then, we moved to the car park area for 'fire fighting introduction'. we did learnt how to use fire extinguisher n practiced it, n also carrying long fire hose. the hose is soo heavy. when it came to carrying hose practical, I mengelat, hehe.. so, I din do it. jus took pict, pura2 je :)
sempat posing lg nih.. ngehe
pura2 je nih, x buat btol2 pon, ahaqs!
*I remembered I did the fire fighting using long hose during school time, in KPA. it was great!! went to a KPA camping in Ulu Bendul, compete with other school, n compete with boys! we r proud wif our all girls school :)
fiza, me, ifa, nabia n azie. kanak2 periang C207
5.30pm: after finishing the firefighting intro, we moved to amphitheatre for 1st aid practical. yeah! sgt seronok!! we learnt (again) primary survey+CPR, secondary survey, Mx of fracture n immobilization of spine, and bandaging. (i luv bandaging station.. CPR stat also la..hehe)
8.30pm: there was a talk by a senior lecturer from Sedaya Uni College on 'Maslow's Hierarchy of needs'. hmm.. when will i reach the 'self-actualization' phase eh? or shud i rephrase it, will i ever reach the 'self-actualization' phase? hmm.. sumthing to think of.
the tough gurls from c207 n c107.
10pm: after that, we played a game (is it a game anyway?). we were folded and hv to move in a grup n find the largest diameter tree in that area with a long rope as a guidance. (err.. can any1 tell me, whut is there purpose of this game?)
11pm: i thot the game was the last actvt for the day as i was already exhausted, hungry n slepy. i was totally wrong!! we went to amphitheatre again for 'knot tying workshop'. we learnt how to tie 12 different knots in less than 2 hours. argghh.. we r medical students, so lembab to get it! the only important knots we med students hv to know r ikatan buku sila n bunga keti. but it was fun la. who knows we might need them in future rite?
1am: we had BBQ; sausages n chicken wings. sedap! sambil mkn, we chit chatted with surgeons n other fasi. get to know some of their life experiences. maybe i won't get the same chance like them, but it's nice to listen to other ppl's life to broaden our view of life. if not, our world will b just rigid, dull n boring.
2.30am: went back to chalet to rest n clean up. nx actvt wl b at 3.30am. so, after cleaned up, i took some rest n practiced knots bcause there wl b an exam nx morning.
3.30am: went back to secretariat for nx actvt. dunno wut is it so just waited there. while waiting, terlelap kejap. soo tired!
4.50am: we had scenario sessions game; a patient had fallen from a tree. we had to find her, and transport her to a safe spot. imagine that we had to immobilize her properly, n bring her to many stations according to the clue. we carried her for about 2-3 km. sgt penat!! finished it by 7.30am kot. already had more-than-fine tremors after finishing it. not forget to mention, we sweat very much. BO (body odour) sume org sgt la .... ahaqs!
8.30am: another practical session for patients transportation.
my 1st attempt to lift it up was a failure.. hehe
all exhausted faces.
10am: we had an exam! 3 papers! 1 from jbtn bomba, 1 from the knot tying fasi, n 1 for 1st aid exam. our brain boiled after so much physical actvt. that was so turturing us, physaclly n mentally. nvr mind la. another few hours to go home~
wif Dr. Maha n Dr. Mohan, the backbone of this cool camp
11am: yeah.. the real fun time! we managed to do flying fox. sgt seronok!
12.20pm: closing ceremony 1pm: i did the fying fox. again :) then, balik rumah!!! sampai je umah, i took lunch, showered, solat n sleep n sleep n sleep. sgtla penat. never x tido more than 24-hours ever in my life. huhu~ so kena ganti balik sleep debt. i think i already ganti balik all the debt ystrdy evening n las nite. now, i'm still having myalgia. wut i need now is a good massage.. hmm..
*all my thanks to Dr. Maha, Dr. Mohan, Dr. Iswaran, Dr. Chan, En. Rahman, En. Din, n other fasilitators from ERSM (emergency rescue services malaysia) n bomba for organizing this camp. it is such a pleasure n great experience for me. i did enjoy it very much! :)
